Vintage Three Wire
I have the glass bowls only from some vintage ceiling lights. How can I retrofit them to use them?
I'm remodeling a family farmhouse and want to use these to retain some old character. I only have the glass — the saucer type. They have three holes around the perimeter of the glass, so I'm guessing they hung from the original ceiling fixtures by beaded chain or something.
I'm semi-handy and can wire. Are there new fixtures I could buy that hang like this so I could change out the glass? Or should I make something from scratch, and how?
I'm an old house gal myself, and have had really good success finding replacement fixtures and/or bowls through old house lighting centers. A lot of those old styles are still being produced and I'm thinking you might be able to find the parts you need quite easily.... or, at the very least, you can look at the catalog and get an idea of how the fixture is supposed to look. How to fix Guitar wiring.?
I have a Jay Turser Vintage Series Electric Guitar. The guitar has stopped working properly. I took the covers off, and at the back of the guitar, where there are three coils, and two mettal bars at each end, I found a disconnected brown wire. One, near the base of the guitar is where you feed the strings through, and the other closer to the neck is just a support where the coils hook on. Has the wire come off from one of these areas. I have a hunch I need to soder the wire back onto a place here, but I am not sure where. A Some help would be appreciated.
That area with the 3 springs and the metal bars... thats the tremolo cavity. There should be 1 wire soldered or affixed to any part of that assembly. That is the ground.
But that should not make your guitar work/not work. Check the other wires, make sure the jack is correctly in place (internally) and make sure the wire works. Solder that ground back on as well. Check all your wires on the inside and check for a missing wire. If it doesn't work with the ground on it, you will need to do some troubleshooting. It would be nice to know what "working properly" means.
