Mannequin Drawing
Mannequin To Help With Drawing?
Does a mannequin help with the basics of drawing people in different positions. Im not the best drawer and was wondering if this would help.
If you are having trouble getting your proportions correct, I think it might help. People often get distracted by a person's outline and surface features. Using the mannequin helps to remind the artist that underneath there are straight bones and legs are longer than they seem 
Some figure drawing techniques (mannequin or real life):
-Start with the spine of who you are drawing, draw a light line where it would be
-Next lightly draw a straight line to show the angle of the shoulders, then do the same for the hips
-Use elongated ovals to show where each bone will be for the legs, then the arms
-Now start shaping your torso/shoulders
-Lastly an oval for the head
-Now you can start to darken in the details
My advice is to start with the first two steps (spine/shoulders/hips) and do it over and over with different positions until it comes naturally. Slowly add another step and once that becomes natural, add another one.... and so on...
Good luck, have fun, waste lots of paper.
You have to draw A LOT before you start getting good
