Dressform
Moving into an apartment with my boyfriend-where to put all my sewing stuff?
I have a fold away sewing table I currently keep under my bed, a duct tape dressform, a machine and my giant cardboard cutting board-not to mention various tubs of fabric and knickknacks. We're moving into a small one bedroom and we both have a lot of stuff. Where can I store my sewing things and how can I make room to sew without bothering him?
Sometimes moving in together means you leave some stuff behind or minimizing it - if only temporarily on both your parts. But if you can work it out, get a storage closet even if it means your space for sewing is the kitchen so as not to disturb his tv time or sleeping.

Dress your dress form and leave it in the living room as art when not in use. It would be creepy in the bedroom. I'd feel like my mom was watching me or something.

Does it adjust? How can it adjust?
You can get the Dritz "My Double" dressforms new from Joann's for about a hundred and fifty dollars, more for plus sizes, less if you can catch a sale or a good coupon. These are adjustable -- the numbers tell you the smallest to largest range that they can be adjusted. So, for the Petite dress form, you can make the waist as small as 22", or as large as 29", or anywhere in between. Each of the four measurements (bust, waist, hips, neck) can be set independently so you can get a custom fit.
You can sometimes pick them up for much less at a garage sale or auction, if you can find it... lucky you if you do!
