Wigs and Lice: Is It Safe Now?
Okay, so I had lice a few weeks ago, but before I realized it I had worn my Mello (Death Note) cosplay. Since then, I've left the wig on the foam head without going near it, as I did with the rest of the outfit and my stuffed animals, etc.
I have gotten rid of the lice on my head by getting it cut fairly short and then using the RID shampoo and plastic combs that come with it. This has kept me from getting lice again, but is it safe to wear the cosplay now without having to take any extra steps?
Due to the style and frizzy-ness of the wig, washing it or putting it in a bag would be near-disastrous as we have no dry place to store it outside.
So, my question is this: Is it safe to come in contact with those objects again without fear of re-starting the lice attack?
Again, they've remained untouched for at least two weeks now.
Help?
Lice clings on to anything it can such as fur, carpet, cotton, and even a wig.
I don't suggest you put the wig on again, without washing it and using the same lice shampoo. I know it may be hard to wash and dry and comb out but if you want to avoid getting lice again I say don't wear it. That or just buy another wig.
I know they're pretty pricey but i'd rather spend money on that than have to get rid of lice again. Especially because the shampoo for that can be very harsh on your scalp - hence why it kills lice.
