Replacement Hands
Has anyone sent in an xbox to Microsoft with a replacement warranty sticker from ebay?
My Xbox is in warranty and although I've never tampered with it at all I got it as a present second hand so wanted to check the warranty sticker. I've found it's torn so am considering buying one of the replacement stickers from Ebay. Has anyone ever done this and sent it off to Microsoft? Does it work?
Actually I took mine apart, well I did repos, and I found it in a car and no one claimed it after the 45 days, so I kept it, thinking "Yay new xbox" but it did the RROD once I got a cable, which confirmed why the guy never picked it up..... So! I thought it was out of warranty, so I dismantled it, and I mean dismantled every screw and plate in that thing, (really bad design btw) but once I tried to repair it, and put it back together I looked at the sticker and realized it actually WAS still under warranty. I was like crap!! So I called MS and said "Hey look I bought this from a friend and moved, now it's RRODing on me, I traded all my PS2 games for new xbox games, is there a way I can fix it?" They just told me to ship it out and they'll fix it. They fixed it for free. =) So even if it is out of warranty they may fix it, they had that thing going at the time because of all the RROD errors that even out of warranty xboxes will be repaired. Give them a call first, give them a good sob story, about how you traded PS2 games, and how you wanted to give xbox a try and now you get this yada yada. Usually they'll help you out because that means you're switching from Sony to MS, and they like that. =)
Good luck, oh and it usually takes about a week or two to get back to you. For me it was a free xbox though, though I did have to buy EVERYTHING, HD, controllers, power cords, VGA cable, games everything, but at the time Xbox 360 was about 250 so I saved a nice chunk of change by waiting 2 weeks. =)
PS: Make sure to keep that system cool!! Lay it flat, put a book under it to let the bottom holes breath and a fan as well, as these consoles get friggin HOT!! The cooler they are the less likely you get an RROD

Is Purell hand sanitizer a replacement for washing your hands?
I'm pretty sure Purell isn't the same as soap and water (correct me if I'm wrong), but my friend has started using just hand sanitizer after the bathroom without washing her hands. How can I convince her that there's a difference, if there is one?
Hand sanitizer is NOT a replacement for hand washing with soap and water.
Alcohol based gels do kill most bacteria, fungus, and viruses but it is only meant as a temporary measure when water and soap is not available.
When you wash your hands you should always use soap and warm running water, and vigorously rub both sides of your hands getting between your fingers, your finger nails, and your wrists for at least 20 seconds.
And then don't turn off the water yet, dry your hands with a paper towel and then use that same paper towel to turn off the water; think about it your hands were dirty when you turned the water on by touching/gripping the faucet nobs/levers and then you washed them clean... so if you touch them again your hands will be dirty again.
