You need the look to sell fashion
When you have a retail outlet, you obviously need to make sales in order to stay in business, regardless of what it is that you sell. This is the very basis of being a retailer and the large high street companies are only too well aware of the psychology of selling and indeed the psychology of buying. The first thing you need to do when setting up a retail outlet is to decide on your target market, or in other words who you are trying to attract as customers. For example, if you sell clothes that are intended to be worn by teenagers you don't want the decor to look as though it is meant for men in their sixties.
How you get the right look depends entirely on how you decorate and display. You need to use the right style of shop fittings to make it attractive to the buyers, just like you would choose the right kind of colours to paint the walls. Different colours say different things to us, for example dark green is seen as sophisticated, and lime green is seen as funky, so you choose what sends the right message. Display cubes look great with the right clothes folded neatly inside them but if you are selling quantity rather than quality then your shop fittings really need to say this to your customers.
