Form Fields in Microsoft Word?
Good afternoon.
I am working with Microsoft Word 2002. I have a form created. One of the fields is a drop-down list with 5 selections. These selections are sales rep codes. We have another field which displays the sales rep name. What I want to do is when a sales rep code is selected from the drop-down list, I want the corresponding sales rep name to appear in the sales rep name field.
How do I accomplish this? Thanks for your help on this in advance.
Well, I don't want to get into VB programming at all. I have tried using the Insert, Field and using an IF command but, ran into a roadblock when it didn't seem to work and not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I haven't worked with Word Form Fields in years, but I think you have to write some Visual Basic code and tie it to the Exit property for the drop-down field. The code would tweak the other field, via its Bookmark name (also a property), to have the right value. You'll have to investigate exactly how to do that based on the type of the second field. I suspect it will be something like "Field2.value = "Rep's Name""
To see the properties for a Form Field, right-click on it and select Properties.

A little SQL vb.net help?
I have a form which contains a combo box of sales people, a text box for month, and a text box for year. I have to generate a report (HTML Page) that displays the selected sales persons orders and payments in the given month for the given year. I cant seem to get an SQL query working for this, any body have suggestions regarding an SQL query that could do what i've outlined. The database contains an orders, payment, salesperson and customer table and I need a query for vb.net, NOT an sql query for access.
I'm still having troubles getting the query to work. I'm trying to pass the sql query as a parameter through to a function but it doesn't work. All my other queries work this way, except for this one, i think it has something to do with a fact that i have a string value in the where clause. E.g. Where surname = "Smith"
What datatype are you using for the parameter?
(string, SQLCommand, object, ????)
Start with a simple SQL like
Select firstname from table where surname="Smith"
Quote marks and apostrophes can be very problamatic in SQL.

This code will produce
strings

*Notice to put a quote inside a string you need a double-quote
so the second part of the code has three quote marks on each side
